Sterling Sky has long tested ways to improve rankings and traffic for pages that already exist on a site, and one of the most under-utilized ways we do this that works so well is adding a table of contents (TOC) or TL;DR to existing blog pages. For this one client we did it for, they saw an almost instant increase in organic traffic for the page we added a TL;DR to.

It seems Google heavily rewards the improved crawlability and user experience, especially on longer informational guides. This works best on informational content, compared to localized pages like service or service area pages.

Anyone else do this? Curious to hear what else you are doing to refresh old local blog content for clients or your own business.

Internal linking (including jumplinks) has always been an underused but important part of SEO.

I've found adding a row of jumplinks links across just below introductory paragraph works really well.
