Hi, I've read that a company owns two separate businesses in the same location that are independently filed and have their own staff they would need suite numbers for each location. However, I was wondering how accurate this is. There's a local business that is both a ropes course and a furniture store and they use the same exact address for both of their listings. Are they using best practice here or is Google just not policing it?

It's not really a matter of having different suite numbers, it's more about the businesses being legally separate and unique businesses. Google would be more concerned about things like separate entrance and staff and signage.

So suites are not mandatory but can make it easier for google to understand that's they are separate entities?

Not in the algorithm, Google basically ignores suite numbers entirely when doing duplicate detection or applying the local filter. Adding suite numbers is only truly relevant for a) making sure the postcard gets there if you happen to be validating that way and b) your customers' convenience in actually locating your business.

Otherwise you really don't have to worry about it unless there's a weird format to it that causes the locator pin to shoots off to an unrelated location.

Think of it like a mall. All of the stores have the same address and they never put suite on them. Or take a large hotel with a casino. They have shops inside the hotel and they all use the same address. There isn’t any issue with several businesses having the same address at all. My concern is how many have similar categories cause then you run into a filtering issue.
