Have you seen or heard about the new Google Local ads at the top of the "Local Finder" and in Google maps? Want to learn more?
Melinda Samson did a detailed post about all the new Adwords changes and how they affect Local Search and the local businesses that want to reach out to wider areas.

Google is rolling out an AdWords update that can give ads for businesses that service a local area more visibility.
This includes ad campaigns for hairdressers, shops, restaurants, dry cleaners, accountants, dentists and anyone else who has a business that services customers at a fixed location, like an office or shop.
