One of our clients runs a restoration and construction business in Utah. They have two separate departments, one for construction and one for restoration services. Both departments run from the same building and address. Would creating two different GBPs for these two departments be against Google's guidelines? According to Google's guidelines, what is the best way to make the GBPs for these two services? We don't want to go against Google's guidelines.

The Guidelines only specify this: Typically such departments have a separate customer entrance and should each have distinct categories.

So, the same address is ok, but different categories is key.

I don't doubt it, but for some reason, I'm not reading that criteria in the Guidelines for departments. Can you help me locate that?

It's relevant to every single profile, not specific to the departments. If you have two GBPS with the same number and same address? the likelihood that they'll get suspended or merged is greatly increased. And that's if you can even get through validation!

The same address for departments may be unavoidable, but the same phone number - such as a call center number - isn't unheard of. Google does specify to use a local number, instead of a call center number *whenever* possible.

BUT ... Yes, I agree, having the same phone number and address isn't ideal and it can definitely increase the risk of suspension or being merged.
