For us, it's totally about the review stars. We've found it increases click-through-rate by 100-300%. It's hard to find a simple-to-implement tactic that produces those types of results!
 
Agree with Joy. Rightly or wrongly, customers seem to only care about stars.
And not having to lift a finger to get them.
 
Show them a report of their review count and overall rating on the all review platforms alongside their competitors. We have review monitoring included with our citation vendor, so set up email alerts for all new reviews. They were told up front that they can answer the reviews themselves or let our team do it for them. They choose to let us do it.
 
Joy and Margaret - Anecdotally, we've definitely had a lot of agency customers say their clients are fixated on those stars as well.

Jason- Totally! Seeing competitors' reviews compared to their own is a huge motivation factor for businesses. Especially when they're aware of specific competitors and want to 'beat them'.
 
Agree with you Jason.

Comparing them to their competitors is done carefully. Done incorrectly, biz owners can get too focussed on getting more, thinking it's the new holy grail. And if their competitors do the same thing, some start buying fake reviews. And those often come in faster than what an honest review program generates.
