Oh - and adding the city to the business name is against Google Guidelines so that's probably why it triggered reverification. You'll need to remove that to get reverified if it doesn't match their official business name.
I had a very similar issue happen a few weeks ago. I think the only thing updated was service areas, and the listing that had been verified for quite some time was now unverified. Would still show in local finder, but without images. They also lost visibility in the local pack, which was a...
We manage listings for a construction (new home builder) company and last week we noticed that a bunch of new categories were added to 'Services' "based on feedback from customers and other Google sources". Some of these categories aren't related to the construction world at all. They are health...
Curious how one would go about dealing with a review that is a flat out lie.
My wife is in the mental health field and an ex-client left a false review (medical records can prove he is lying). Obviously because of HIPAA she can't really say anything about it. but It's a pretty bad review...
Not sure if this is related, but I've seen the map expanded way out as well.. to the point where it seems more like a glitch and would cause certain locations to spike in visibility. I had to double check that google knew I was located in Bend, Oregon since it was showing me east coast results...
@Phil Rozek it's generally the case that the client has just gotten out of certain markets all together so there wouldn't be any other locations around.
Hey there local gurus-
I haven't seen any official stance from GMB on the subject, but what is everyone's opinion on keeping permanently closed locations in a GMB account? I work with several large multi-location businesses that have had locations closed down over the years. Is there an...
@Sarah FBM any updates on this? We have a multi-location client that has 3 locations (out of hundreds) that this just started happening to in the last couple days. The website gets the "orange strike-through" in GMB due to a "Google Update", we add it back in, and it happens again... definitely...
Thought I would run this by the local gurus everywhere. I've been doing local SEO for 6+ years for everything from single location to enterprise businesses and am really stumped (frustrated) about not being able to get a local business to appear with a local listing for the core head-term that...
@PeteC122 if you select all locations from the dashboard, you can make an edit to the hours, then apply to all selected locations:
OR if you are bulk verified, you can just upload a CSV with all the updated hours...
@sarmcl Unfortunately GMB changed their notification policy about a year back. They will not longer send you notifications if you have a bulk verified account with over 100 locations (an there is no way to re-enable). Obviously this is a horrible change for large businesses who want to monitor...
Looks like it's influenced specifically by push notifications rather than just going in proactively - which unfortunately means there might not be a way to develop much of a strategy to impact this due to dependency on actual users receiving requests for info.
Key distinction being "prompted to...
@JoyHawkins interesting, almost all the sites I've checked (regardless of UTM codes) saw that substantial impression drop to their local landing pages, albeit some more drastic than others. The drop seems to be almost 100% non-brand though...
Only the last example here uses UTM to track GMB...
