There seems to be a huge variety of ways, both free and paid, to display products on Google Business Profiles, plus the detail that's given (what's stocked generally vs what's in stock today) - either via the GBP Product Editor feature, via Google Merchant Center, via creating local shop fronts for Local Inventory Ads, through connecting POS systems (ie Pointy) etc...

Navigating around the many many Google support/help pages on all these methods can be rather confusing, especially when some methods are only available in certain countries or have additional eligibility criteria.

Does a definitive, easy-to-follow guide exist anywhere that summarises each option clearly?

Any recommendations help clearly understand all the options?
