I've been doing some work with some local clients and investigating booking applications. Some of them take the potential client off-site to make the booking and some can be integrated into the site. Some of them are very prescriptive about how a booking is made, some are more flexible (eg: morning or afternoon v 10.15 next Tuesday).

The testing I've done suggests the integrated booking system with more open or flexible timings have a better UX.

Has anyone done any long term testing of the efficacy of various booking apps and platforms?

Oh, I see what you mean now. I’m not aware of any study offhand, but I’d think the easier it is to book directly online and complete the whole process in one go, the better.

You absolutely want to convert them with a confirmed booking on the site then and there. We saw a 30% increase over callbacks when we added online booking, however this was over 10 years ago.

Integrate the platform to your own site as best possible for data collection and seo purposes.

This is what I think as well. And if so, why do so many business owners choose something like candedly?
