Hello,

I just started with seo late last year but I’ve had a website for my print shop for the last 26 years. Let’s say the business is called “my brand name” and my domain is called “mybrandname.com”

Will it help me rank better for local if I add the term printing to the end of my domain? For example: “mybrandnameprinting.com”

My GBP has our name set up as:
“my brand name printing”

Not sure if it’s acceptable to put my actual url in here or not so I’m using a generic url. If it helps to get a better answer, I can add it if that’s okay.

I hope my question makes sense

Leave things as they are. Adding 'printing' to the domain name won't help and may confuse things later on if you decide to offer other services.

If the website is 26 years old and SEO has been done accurately, than changing domain name at this point will loose all the SEO signals as you have to start from scratch. Go to SEMrush and see what organic traffic you are getting currenlty before making a decision like this. If you are getting negligent traffic than it would make sense to change the domain and add service at the end. It is a big ranking factor for the main search term. If printing is your bread and butter service then it makes sense. I have a similar website and have beaten a lot of competetion which were established for over 20 years in less than a year with service name in the website as well as on my business name. Rankings for older business with random/ creative names are not recommended.

Advise: if SEO is working on current website. Keep it and get a new domain with City+service, Houstonprinting.com. Its or houstonprintservices.com. You will rank top position with light SEO for keywrods like printing in houston or printing services near me. Dont add your company name or anything to the new website. I can show you examples if you want to see exact examples.
