I am an electrical contractor, I used to do all different types of residential electrical work and I used those various services to add keywords and content on the various pages of my website. But now I only install electric vehicle chargers. That is the only job that I do and it’s all I want to do.
My website is now old and built on Joomla with outdated modules that are unsupported, so it’s time for a new website.
Here’s the rub: I think most people find me by searching for “Electrician”. Most of my customers are informed that they have to have a licensed electrician install their charger. I don’t think they are searching for keywords about EV charging. I think they are just looking for a local reputable electrician.
My concern is if I take all of the other tasks that electrician generally do off of my website, then I’m not going to rank very well when people search for electrician. And therefore lose the future calls that I would have normally gotten from people looking to have their EV chargers installed.
With that said, I am only an electrician, not an SEO pro. So I’m curious what you guys think?
