This is not my client or anything like that, just scrolling and find out that in hyper dense city as Sofia, Bulgaria some un-optimised GBP with bad website dominates the search with only a word matched in the name of the company- website. The profile has the most reviews for the niche, but still the result is insane .

Any ideas why? Sometimes these rankings are so frustrating.

The algorithm wants what the algorithm wants.

The problem is no one can tell what it wants.

GBP age and review freshness probably a big part of it.

Maybe it was the reporting tool Izyrank, today I have stopped it after it shown me a semi optimised profile dominating half of the city on their map grid, but when you make a general search for the same term in google maps it is 6-8 place.

But yeah, there is no strong logic behind the rankings and all the Youtubers are presenting it as you do 1,2,3,4... and you are on the top. It doesnt work that way.

Can you ask Izyrank to search in a specified language? Because otherwise, it's probably design by a monolingual English speaker and searches in English. As someone who works almost exclusively With French language client, I only give minimal trust to any rank tester because I have yet to see a single one that can actually test non-english keywords.
