Facebook Pixel

We're looking to do a retargeting ad campaign with Facebook and learned the pixel applied to our site is firing in at least one or two other off-brand sites. Facebook appears to not have specialists any longer to guide you so the marketing expert advised we take the current pixel off our site and reapply it (which isn't an easy task). Anyone else who deals with Facebook have same issues? The pixel is collecting data and firing well for us. Don't know why we would take it off our site, place it back in when other sites are registering. Wouldn't you place a new pixel? They offer not guidance for "pixel security" except to have us contact the other sites to ask them to pull, or not use, our pixel. Very perplexing.
