@DrewShady I finally heard back from support via email. They wanted to know which email address was associated with the Google account... this is going to be a long process
Ha!
@Justin Mosebach, I finally received an email last night too for verifications. This is after 2 conversations, via IM (one pretty passionate from my end, because what they were telling me sounded like BS and I couldn't find anywhere on support or on this form that had mentioned what he was talking about), and Twitter DM as you suggested. I guess they can do video verification, now. They mentioned it and there was only one occurrence it was an option, ironically last night as I was setting up another account!
As a consultant, I am not sure how well this is going to go. I also have the same issue where the "primary owner" of this multi-location business didn't follow the rules of local correctly (according to the Goog) and will not cooperate giving back ownership to the client. It has been a turbulent 10 months. Also, the account I am working under has actually either gained the owner or primary ownership in some cases, of these accounts, I don't get why I have to go through all of this hassle of verifications. I understand protecting the actual individual businesses and what the few "black-hatters" have done, but I feel like they are going the way of the Yelps, Vitals, and Doximity making our jobs extremely difficult as marketers, who are trying to make a living being honest.
I was just listening to the latest podcast (or maybe the one before) of FoundBytes, where Google is going for more the pay-to-play with their local product

. Not sure if you have heard of FoundBytes, but it is a pretty awesome podcast on everything local search by David Mihm. The first show/interview with
@JoyHawkins is actually how I found out about this forum and I am really glad I did. It has already upped my game tremendously. It's like being in a classroom, I need to take notes to usurp all of the knowledge!
I really wish when I was in the corporate world I would have kept up with local, but I split my team up in half (Technical/local) where technical SEO was something I was more passionate about and continued down that path but had the foresight to realize that local was going to be a big play, just never kept up with the nuances of it. Now it is almost the only play- that and PPC. Nobody loves the nerdy code anymore :'(.
Good luck with the fun process of verifications! Keep me up-to-date on how things go and if I make any progress with this new avenue of video verification, I will let you know!
