Google AutoComplete/AutoSuggest for places

Any thoughts regarding the AutoComplete/AutoSuggest method for places SEO? I saw this ad earlier and stumbled into this: Google Autocomplete | Search Engine Marketing | SEO

Made some more research and found this: https://developers.google.com/places/documentation/autocomplete. Anybody who's tried this before and how did you do it from your end? A little help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Nikko,

That's kind of an old trick and is pretty spammy.

The 2nd link is for developers and does not really tie into SEO.
