Is it beneficial to allocate time to create Google Business Profile Posts in 2025/2026 to see a ROI

Not if you're gonna write them like you would Facebook posts. The 2023 article by Sterling Sky is a pretty good starting point (though nowadays there are issues with offer posts because you can't expect google to be minimally competent, that's preposterous )

Facebook and other are for reach and PR. You're speaking mostly to people who are already clients and trying to spread your posts for maximum engagement.

Google Posts don,t spread. there's no social aspect. they're basically announcements. If someone is looking somewhere they might see your GBP post, they're already interested in posibly being a client. Use the posts to do that last push that might hook an hesitant customer with offers, seasonal reminder with CTA ("Hey, you have to book in advance for next season's snow removal/lawn care/tune up/whatever"), etc. In Quebec, early early July is EXTREMELY busy for movers and you genuinely need to schedule months in advance if you want your chosen movers to be available.

Forget things like "happy new year", TGIFs(yes, I still see those from businesses on Facebook) and Did-you-Knows. That's for Instagram and Facebook. If you could put a custom pop-up reminder on the website that can be changed at the drop of a hat with no effort, what would you put there? That's what you put in Google Posts.

Personally I also like "we finished a great job" (especially those with before/after photos) and other success stories, but there's not been much written on the actual efficiency of this specific sort of content on GBP posts.

Yeah they are very important. I encourage you to do it very frequently.

Google posts have never been a ranking factor and don’t seem to get much traction in most verticals. I would focus on more things that move the needle and increase ROI, like reviews.

I tend to use them to point people to the projects and case studies I post on my website. Takes a few minutes to post some blurb and a link. Not sure it adds any value but it does make my profile look busy.

Yes. And then no. Much like writing the case studies I enjoy the creative process. It's not like it's an everyday task, probably just once a week.

I've seen the result of automation, especially as AI seems be involved and it's not good. The test I did got it so wrong and referred to something totally unrelated to my business: it made stuff up.

I totally understand. I have been using automation for this process and it worked well for me as I am able to generate 10s of posts regularly and only edit through them. It does take some fine tuning the AI prompt and instructions initually and proofreading after of course but they are well written and include keywords for local SEO.

Posts don't effect ranking and don't receive much engagement at all anymore. They are more engaging for restraunts coffee shops etc when you post offers. I would still do them but keep them commercially focused. Like others have said don't just repost your typical social media content, keep it to offers and transactional topics.

I am curious to know how posts dont contribute to ranking. I heard geotagging does not, service areas do not. Are we assuming only reviews and primary categories do and NAP consistency? If any articles you may share on the topic from legitimate sources that would be greatly appreciated.

The tiered ranking list video from @whitespark (video link) reflects what I believe is the current understanding of what is worth worrying about for ranking.

That being said, you have to consider two different angles: ranking, and actually getting people to call you. just one example: Services prices? Completely irrelevant to Google, but of extremely high interest to potential clients! Similarly, a profile with good photos will always attract more attention than one without any.
