Google Maps "Nearby" Option - New?

Okay, unsurprisingly I'm a big user of Google Maps for local but I've just spotted something that I have never noticed before, the "Nearby" option in the blue sidebar.

Is it me or is this option new?

I've always used the "Search This Area" option previously, but it doesn't always immediately appear.

New or otherwise, it's just made my local competitive research a whole lot easier!

Thanks Joy, yeah, I thought it might not be new, I just hadn't spotted it in the past (for whatever reason, I blame blind male syndrome?)
