It's not something I've seen discussed. Is this a general thing? It started last spring but it's been getting progressively worse, especially since the return of paginated results earlier this summer. I just tested a dozen rankings or so and most of them the threepack was at the very bottom of the SERP.
My theory is that it's some sort of preemptive strike related to the various suits over monopoly, self-preferring etc.
