Hello!

Does anyone have any experience with ranking Google Pin Drops? This is brand new to me and there isn't anything online I can find about it. this isn't for a physical location that has a GBP account. This is for a pin that shows up on google maps for my business, but i can't reply to reviews or edit anything. I can later claim it though as my business which I plan on doing.

Thanks

I have a hard time quite understanding what you're talking about. You mean Google or a third party created a profile for your business?

i used a local guide account and made Red Google Pins that show up on maps and search with all my business info. Only thing is you can't edit anything once its posted, but you can later claim the listing.

It sounds like what you did was add your business as a missing place to Google Maps. Google talks about that here.

What you need to do in order to edit the profile and reply to reviews is claim the profile as your own. Google outlines how to do that here (See the Claim your business through Google Maps step).

Hope this helps!

Ah, so so you just want general GBP resources. I recently shared a list of resources here, although none of them is really a base tutorial.

Appreciate the comment. I am looking for someone with knowledge about ranking them without claiming them.

If you don't mind me asking, what's the purpose of keeping it unclaimed? You're going to be far better off ranking the profile and appealing to potential customers if you claim it. You don't have access to many important features without doing so.

If you do keep it unclaimed, your best bet is to focus on generating reviews and ensuring the core information such as the NAP, category, and website is accurate. You should be able to edit these things through the "Suggest an edit" button. Another thing you could do is add photos to encourage visitors to interact with the profile more. However, you'll have far more control over this with a claimed profile.
