If you make a change to a Business Profile and the edit is rejected, you can now use the Appeals tool to contact support. (Maybe. More on that below.)

This is new to me; I just stumbled across this in my day-to-day work earlier this week. Here's why I was surprised: to date, only users in the EU have been able to do this. For the rest of the world, the Appeals tool was only for suspension cases. This is detailed in the help document Appeal Business Profile content & profile restrictions.

At the time of writing this post, that help document shows this usage table:

Based on what I experienced this week, things have changed, and that table is out of date. The path for contacting support about problems with edits is (or was) Edit your Business Information, but when I used it this week, it kicked me over to the Appeals tool.

A couple of specifics that might be important:
  1. I’m in Canada and was submitting an appeal for a Canadian company. You might find that this doesn’t work in your region.
  2. The reason given for the rejection was “Business identity changed”. I don’t think this is very common (yet). This is the first time I’ve come across this error first-hand, and I can only find two mentions of it in this forum. (Example 1, Example 2) This might not work for rejections citing some other reason.
Has anybody had similar or different experiences recently?

I just tried the Edit your Business Information tool for a business that had their website edit rejected. The tool did not kick me to the Appeal Tool. Instead, it funneled me to the Edit Rejection Appeal Form. It is possible there are different flows for different edits.

Or perhaps Canada has been added to the group that can or should use the appeal tool instead, and the US, where I am, has not been?
