I have a client and a prospect with good-sized (75-80) citation profiles, but they are moving to new offices and I'm discovering that updating all those citations is not as simple and easy as creating them. I'm able to update easily the ones I created initially, but any created by the aggregator networks, for example -- not so simple to select and update those with my citation service. And this only compounds the existing lack of responsiveness of many directory sites themselves; I have not see any citation services (BrightLocal, Whitespark, Loganix, etc.) who promise more than about a 70% success rate in any case.
I think there's also a new urgency about this now that citations have become more important with SEO AI as a highly reliable signal of authenticity. But how to maintain NAP consistency when it's so difficult to change them all at once yet the need to do so is greater? That is the core question I'm trying to answer.
I'm thinking I'll need to update the citations in phases, but I'd appreciate any suggestions or discussion of this issue. Surely others are facing the same thing. Thank you.
