We took over a location in December that was previously a CVS. The old CVS listing has been marked as permanently closed, and our new Google Business Profile is active and looks good overall.

The Street View image itself hasn’t been updated since May 2024, and that’s fine. We’re okay with waiting for Google to update it or replacing it ourselves later.

The issue is with the business icon overlay on the Street View image. It’s still showing the CVS label over the building, rather than our new business. This is causing some confusion, especially for stakeholders who’ve noticed it.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to request an update to the business icon shown in Street View? We understand this isn’t a major visibility issue, but we’d like to address it if possible.

Thanks for any guidance!

There was a business near us had been closed for over a year but Google still showed the overlay on street view (and maps). I seem to recall the solution was for the old business owner to tell Google the business was no longer trading at that address.

Okay, I was really confused for a while there and ended up rewriting this post several times.

The problem is that the CVS location is blocking your business from showing up in StreetView and only streetview.

It's a known issues that businesses marked as "permanently closed", because they are still on the map, can linger for a while, though I personally had never seen an actual example. You may have to try reporting the closed GBP (apparently, that's now possible. Previously I believe you could only reopen it).

I have never tried it for a permanently closed GBP, so I'd recommend @Phil Rozek 's "throw everything at the wall" technique (i.e. have multiple people report as many different issues as possible, and repeat every week or so), which I've usually had good results from.
