Google has been showing a Menu button on restaurant business profiles (next to website, directions, call, etc.)

It is in most cases showing wrong and outdated items and prices.

In one case, for example, it seems to be getting the information from a 3rd party food delivery service provider. However, when items, such as monthly or weekly specials, change they are not updated in the menu section on Google which seems to be generated automatically.

Is there anyway to remove this Menu button?

It is very misleading to customers both for items available as well as menu item prices!

I can try but it is a very time consuming exercise especially for clients that have frequent changes to their menu.

This particular client, being a patisserie, updates their menu on a weekly basis. That would mean manually changing the menu items individually every week rather than just linking to an updated menu pdf as was the case up to recently.

Plus no guarantee the wrong menu items drawn from third party delivery sites will be updated/removed.

So Google is trying to be clever and automate this menu feature but providing wrong information and/or forcing manual changes on businesses.

Anyway, rant over :) Sorry about that :)

They are about to launch a new menu. I will add it to their profile, see what happens and report back here.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi @Colan Nielsen

Manually inputting the menu items worked. Many thanks for the suggestion.

It is now featuring the manually updated items and it has also removed the outdated ones that were automatically included.

So this just remains an issue for those places with frequent changes to their menu...
