Phone Verification--Weird Situation

Client of ours was going to do their GBP verification and reached out the phone number was wrong. USUALLY this is because we use a tracking number and they get confused

So I took a look---well the phone number Google wants to call is nowhere near the number we have on the set up. And whats more odd is the wording on it "To get verified faster, use the phone number provided by trusted sources"??????

Has anyone seen this before?

The phone number that is there is nothing related to the business. The client reached out and was like what is this number?? Its a completely different area code. I went in and tried editing the number in the GBP rofile to the real number rather than tracking and still this same number shows up when you go to verify.

Its super STRANGE. I am thinking maybe I will try resetting up the profile and its some weird glitch?
