If you were to rank local search sites or put them into tiers according to their importance, how would you rank/tier them?
  • Tier 1: Google My Business
  • Tier 2: Bing Maps, Apple Maps, Yelp?
  • Tier 3: ???
  • Tier 4: ???
I realize that for individual niches there are often niche-specific local search sites you might consider Tier 2 or Tier 3, but for this discussion let's focus just on general search sites.

Thanks!

My thoughts;
  1. Google Business Places
  2. Apple Maps
  3. Bing Business/Maps
  4. Yelp
  5. Facebook
  6. Angie's List
  7. Nextdoor
  8. Houzz
  9. YellowPages/Dex
  10. BBB
6, 7 and 8 are depending on the industry
9, as they get in the SERPs
10 depending on industry

After that, we're off to the chamber and local specific sites.

I agree with Conor or the most part. It can be somewhat market/industry dependent, so how I'd determine the most important ones, is by doing a google search for some of my money keywords, and seeing which of the sites on your list show up first, and I'd go from there.
