I’ve set UTM parameters correctly in a client’s Google Business Profile website URL. The parameters work fine when tested directly, but when clicking the website button in GBP, they’re stripped off and only the base URL shows.

Has anyone encountered this? Any solutions to keep the UTM parameters intact when users click the website link?

There are a couple of things mentioned in this thread: https://localsearchforum.com/threads/gbp-website-utm-falling-off-when-clicked.62115/

- having http instead of https (although in your screenshot I see the https in the status bar)
- if the site doesn't use www and you have www in the URL in the profile

I always keep my UTMs short for that URL: https://mysite.com/?utm_source=gbp

If you go to https://locations.google.com see if you have a pending change on the location (it may still be a pending edit):

Nope no pending edits - The website with UTM, it is live and accepted, but still happening.
I got a lead this maybe happening due to the thirdparty, in my case it is brightlocal.. fingers crosses, I am checking it,

After verifying the details in BrightLocal and LocalVikings, both tools display the correct UTM. I unlinked both tools from GBP to test, but the issue has not been resolved after two days.

@Syed Amir - I've seen one or two cases like this recently. To summarize: the value in the backend, where you make the edits, doesn't match the URL that's publicly visible on the profile. The two are out of sync.

It's a glitch. And unfortunately, the support team is not very helpful. I think this is because the support agents use a set of tools that don't let them see the problem. They are only looking at the backend, and so from their perspective, the URL is fine. By default, they don't look at the public profile, where they would see the problem. (At least this is what I gleaned from the support agent when they called me.)

Start with the GetHelp form. Explain your problem. Expect to be let down.

But once you have a thread going with support, you can explain that they have to look at the publicly visible profile to see the problem. If you can convince them to do that, I think they'll solve the problem. (That's what happened in one case I handled personally.)

And if that doesn't work, then try the community forum.
