Review Schema in SERPS - UPDATE or BUG?

Lots of SERPS results are loosing their review count "500 reviews".

Is this an UPDATE or BUG?

Whats your thoughts?

It's possible that because reviews often abused or fake Google has decided to drop the number. Or it could be a bug. Or they could be testing to see if it makes any difference to how people interact with the results page.

Didn't google actually announce some time ago that it was dropping the feature in results altogether for that reason?

I don't believe so. They dropped it for self-serving reviews. But it seems a bug as mobile displays correctly.

None of these websites should have review schema. Review schema is only for products and not services.

Checking and yeah, Google been talking about/actually not showing star ratings for some schema types since at least 2023.
