SAB- but showing up in wrong state?

Let me preface this with saying this is not my business or client but trying to help someone out. ANd I am baffled

• Lawyer that is located in Alabama and has his GBP set up as a SAB
• Problem is when he is searched hes coming up in Virginia. He was getting calls from people in Virginia and couldnt figure out why. I didnt believe it until I tried it myself and well look at that below. He comes up for "attorneys" if the user is searching from Virginia
• Confirmed that all of the service areas are in fact for Alabama and they are
• Said he tried opening a ticket with support and they have been useless
• DOes anyone have ANY ideas what he should do?

Did he ever move state? You cannot actually alter the geographical area associated with an SAB once it's been validated.

No . He said got verified in Alabama. Never moved. Its baffling.

His website does mention that he is from Virginia and that he went to school there. That could be enough for Google to associate his name to Virginia? Other than that, I can't see anything sticking out.
