The UK’s competition watchdog is investigating how Amazon and Google tackle fake reviews.

The Competition and Markets Authority is probing whether the companies have taken sufficient action against fake reviews online and if inaction violates consumer protection laws.

Just read this news, hope it actually turns in to some corrective action. I'm starting to see some more sophisticated fake reviewing. Not as easy to spot anymore.

Probably EU Competition Authority will have to do something as well before Google and Amazon start to take this problem seriously.

There are some pressures to review (no pun intended) Google, Amazon and other platforms for compliance under The EU Directive 2005/29/EC , even change the directive to have stronger controls. There is a report from 2015 for anyone having problems sleeping
