Thanks for all the helpful comments both here and in the main monster thread over here.
It would seem that the two additional listings for the dentist who they are renting a room to may well be part of the problem. I just found it very coincidental that their rankings dropped happened at the...
Had an issue arise with a dentist here in London and I've not been able to really find out what's going on. Last weekend they fell out of the main local pack for some of their basic hyper-local search terms.
They've ranked well over the past couple of years, always in the top 3 for the keywords...
Marcus,
You could try using their contact form here and give as much evidence as you can about the name change, i.e. link to their website, info from Companies House if they're a Ltd company and any other authoritative citations where you've managed to change the name. Then keep your fingers...
Much of the content that gets written about #citations has a US focus and some of the best companies that deal with citations are based either there or in Canada (except for our own BrightLocal of course!). Wanted to post how I see things currently here in the UK and see if anyone from across...
Hiya BaggySEO,
Quite a few of the more important citation sites here in the UK are now making it tougher for agencies / biz owners to update their listings. I believe "Get Me Everywhere" is owned by Thomson Local, you've got Infoserve who deal with Yahoo, City Visitor and others. Then there's...
Yep, saw that here in the UK a few days ago and thought it was a bug. Couldn't for the life of me understand why they would deliberately not show reviews for a business. Seeing exactly the same as Joy for handyman searches across the board and for other searches it seems to be inconsistent.
For...
That's a great find Linda, thanks for sharing it. Have tested it with your example and it worked just fine. Then chose a random client of mine and it's thrown up a dupe!! It's an unverified Places listing, so usually I'd hop into MapMaker and mark it as a duplicate, but no joy over there at the...
Thanks for posting this here Linda. I think the Chat feature could be amazing but there are still a whole ton of questions that need answering. Switching the availability on and off, along with having the ability to opt out all together would be good places to start.
To be really successful...
Thanks for the heads up on the new guidelines Linda. They're way more extensive and it's interesting that they've reversed the name descriptor. Just putting a proposal together where I was thinking of using that tactic but will leave that well alone now!
There are a ton of businesses that don't...
Hi there, pretty much all of the keyword research tools suggested in this thread work perfectly well for the UK. Just need to make sure you set the location appropriately and you'll be off and running.
It's a great piece by Eli and covers so much that local business owners are, at the moment, failing to grasp. Am working on some research on local businesses here in SW London and the number of optimised pages on G+ is scary low, with only 10% of them having uploaded a cover photo!
Larry,
Yep, saw the same as you here in the UK last week and wondered if it was just a glitch of possibly something a little more permanent. Will keep an eye on it and update here if I notice anything change.
Thanks Linda. That's just the thing though ... I can't find them anywhere on Google Maps or G+ Local. Everytime I search for them the web design company shows up.
Can't for the life of me work out what's going on here so any thoughts would be appreciated. The business in question is a friend, not a client.
Business name is Greengages Payroll, which as the name suggests is a payroll bureau based near Epsom in Surrey (UK). If I do a search on Google Maps...
