Hello,

I'm kinda puzzled right now.

We rebranded a website 9 months ago. Changed the domain and applied redirects. However, 9 months later. In SERPs the old domain shows up and is still ranking then redirecting to the new url.

I've tested and confirmed there is no existence of the old urls anywhere on the site. And no broken redirects everything works smoothly.

The new domain has 4 clicks in the last 3 months whereas the old domain has 50+

What could be causing this delay? We've tried submitted the urls via Instant Indexing RankMath. The pages are indexable & optimized.

One other odd thing I did notice and this may be unrelated is that one of the pages has 1million impressions for the new domain. Whereas the old one doesn't for the same page url.

( I also tried just recently using the official "Change of Address Tool" and it kept giving an error

Any help / info would be great!

Does the old domain still exist? If the pages are still in the index Google may continue to rank the old site.

The verification error you are seeing suggests your redirects aren't set up correctly. How were they done? Did you redirect in htaccess?

Redirects are done via WPEngine server side.

The old Domain is pointed to our Server and we 301 redirect it to the New Domain.

All old Urls process correctly with no errors or issues.

Could that be the issue? Should I forward it via Godaddy

Not quite sure what you mean. Have you set up a redirect from each old page to each new page?

If you just redirect the whole old site to the new domain it means all the old pages still exist and are accessible to Google. 301 redirects to a new domain need a lot of careful planning.
