Frustrated - no response what so ever to spam on Google local listings

I've reported for over a year obvious and complete spam on google local business listings to absolutely no avail. does anyone have any ideas? I've mentioned them on Google, reported them via their listings, etc etc. Nothing. Is it just a case where at this point no matter what you do, nothing will be done about it? I know this has been discussed 'ad fitum' (?) but...I'm curious on the most recent ideas or discussion on it.
