GBP discontinuing star ratings and reviews?

Hi All,
First time poster. I lead a reputation management saas product that serves healthcare clients. One of our products helps clients ask for reviews from patients after they've completed a visit.

Yesterday, one of our prospective clients was told by another vendor that Google is going to stop direct ratings on their site.

Is there any truth to this?

I think they got confused with the announced some time ago that Google would not show star ratings for businesses ion the organic results (but would continue showing them for products). Discussion on this has recently resurfaced because of reports that business are getting around it by using product schemas inappropriately.
