TL;DR

The Pleper panel has a row of icons across the bottom. They are clickable links. Right-click the map pin and select "Copy Link Address" to copy the CID URL to your clipboard.

The PlePer extension for the Chrome browser automatically opens as a modal window on Google Maps and gives you a load of useful information about a Business Profile. In fact, there's more information and functionality on the PlePer panel than you're likely to find with light use. This post reveals some less visible features. If I've missed anything, please comment!

Let's start with the basics: the PlePer extension gives you NAP+W. That is, the Name, Address, Phone and Website of the business are all on the PlePer panel.

For those interested in reputation management, it includes the rating and review count.

It also shows several unique identifiers (Place ID, KGMID, CID and Business Profile ID), the coordinates (latitude, longitude) and the attributes (click to see the full list).

In summary:
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Website
  • Review count
  • Rating
  • Place ID
  • KGMID (Knowledge Graph ID)
  • CID
  • Business Profile ID
Those are the plainly visible things; there's even more behind the clickable targets. Working from the top down:

Verification Status: Get the verification status at a glance. Click the verification status on a verified profile and you're taken to the page 1.) where you can initiate an ownership request and 2.) which gives you a hint about the email address of the Primary Owner. (This doesn't work for SABs.)

Categories: See all the categories at a glance. Click a category to go to the Semrush Keyword Overview tool. (Requires a Semrush account.)

Under the label "Address" you'll see the Brighlocal logo. Click that to go to their Local SERP Checker. (This offers functionality similar to the gs location changer browser extension.)

Under the website URL are several useful, clickable icons.
  • PageSpeed Insights
  • Google's Mobile-Friendly Test (now defunct)
  • Schema.org Validator
  • Serpstat (Subscription required)
  • Semrush website analysis (Broken)
  • Namecheap domain whois lookup
Finally, across the bottom of the Pleper panel is another row of clickable icons. You can right-click them to copy the URLs. I find the first four super helpful; they're all important Google URLs.
  • Place ID URL (To see the profile on Google Search)
  • CID URL (To see the profile on Google Maps)
  • Prolist URL (To see the profile on Google's "prolist")
  • Write a review URL (Share this with your customers!)
The usefulness of the remaining icons will depend on your needs. (i.e. I don't use them much)
  • Bing Maps URL
  • Duck Duck Go
  • Apple Maps
  • Yelp
  • Facebook
  • Wikipedia
  • Foursquare
If there's one drawback to the extension, it's that it often breaks. You might find that it simply doesn't pop up. Despite my best efforts, I've never been able to fix that problem when it arises. In my experience, it usually just starts working again after a week or so.

Amazingly, there's probably more to it! In the US, you'll find an "SOS" icon in the bottom row that links you to the corresponding Secretary of State website. That SOS icon vanishes for Business Profiles outside of the US, so clearly the information adapts dynamically. What else does the PlePer extension do?

It may well be breaking because Google doesn't like you messing with their spyware. In other words if you use the extension a lot Google will just shut you down. Remember that Google (via Chrome) is worse for spying than Meta and MS.

Thank you, Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for posting this about Pleper!! I would love to know how to solve this problem so I can rely on this resource.

I can't figure out is how to generate these results so I can do some free competitive analysis. Is this a paid feature? I've had it magically appear a couple of times but can't consistently populate it. What the heck, is it me?

Unfortunately, the plugin has its problems from time to time and this panel does not appear. All this is available in the free version. Usually after a few days or weeks it returns.

I am fed up with the countless issues and glitches. I am working on a significant report, and if I make a mistake because of this extension, all of my data will be suspect. If I present incorrect data, the criminal case falls apart.

Problems from time to time? This plugin will destroy my reputation!!! Is this ad by @Stefan Somborac or sanctioned by @JoyHawkins? I want to know for full transparency, since @Stefan Somborac now works at Sterling Sky.

I am sorry your tool wasted a lot of my time, and I now have to redo what I did. If I had not caught these issues, criminals could go free. I don't think you know the full implications of how your tool is used and the implications of when it doesn't work.

I use it all the time. The only thing that happens is it sometimes doesn't load. I haven't ever seen the data be incorrect though.

I have countless CIDs to audit and correct. My report is going to two government agencies, and I am beyond upset by this glitch. I need to audit 315 CIDs. I stepped away from this project to calm down.

I don't understand why you write about "your tool" when replying

Is Pleper your tool? I wasted several hours adding the wrong CIDs. I had to delete 315 cells and start all over. The cells in red are duplicates. I am also frustrated because this post looks like an advertisement for your tool. Is this a paid ad?

Is Pleper your tool?

No. I don't know where this assumption comes from.

I simply use this plugin like many people dealing with business profiles.

I wrote above what I noticed and everyone notices, that the plugin can have its problems and the panel does not always load.

Sorry, they way you spoke about the tool, I thought you were the owner. I am sorry.
