I have a client with multiple locations. They manage them Yext.

They got several emails from Google this morning saying their primary category has been updated. Google got it right IMO... the updated primary category is definitely better than what they had previously selected.

My question: When the Yext API kicks in, won't these locations revert back to their old category?

This question also applies when there is Google update to the hours... how does that work when there's a tool like Rio, Birdeye, Soci, etc?

You need to update Yext, or anytime you make an update in Yext, it will override what's on Google. This is standard for the other platforms you mentioned.

That's exactly the confirmation I was looking for. Thank you!

Have you ever seen a location become unverified as a result of changes like this? GBP has been so finicky lately. We had a secondary category change trigger a suspension, so I'm proceeding with caution when it comes to things like this.

Yes, I have. One of four things can happen when you make any changes.
1. The edit gets approved
2. The edit goes into pending review
3. The edit triggers a revertification
4. The edit triggers a suspension
