Googlebot for smartphones found an increase in "page not found" errors

Anyone else receive this notification?

This is a first for me- referring to the smartphone notification.

I wonder why it's only showing 404s on mobile and not desktop. The site is responsive, so there's no mobile version.

Haven't received any of those errors, but if you can share more details people might be able to dig in a bit. Did you run a Screaming Frog scan to see if anything does come up? You can also PM me if you like.

Mobile-only 404s

To ensure the best user experience, if you recognize a user is visiting a desktop page from a mobile device and you have an equivalent mobile page at a different URL, redirect them to that URL instead of serving a 404 or a soft 404 page. Also make sure that the mobile-friendly page itself is not an error page.
