Hi! So we have someone we're helping. They have a business, but no phone number. Last week they got a phone number -- amazing, right? lol

Now it's time to get them a GMB. I am a little hesitant to set it up with my email, incase they want a video verification. I can't travel to do the vidoe. Is there a preferred method here? Maybe set it up with their email, and then if it flips into a video verification, I can coach them on getting the items, shooting the video etc.

OR

Can I still set it up, and in the process of setting it up, add them as an owner and we're both on the location?

Any help on the "APPROACH" would be amazing!

Google has moved all GBPs over to video verification. In the off chance you can trigger a phone verification, Google will suspend the profile and it’s extremely difficult to get reinstated.

Oh totally -- my question is then -- should I set up the account under the clients name, so they can do the verification? Not set it up as me, then try to add them after.

It’s doesn’t matter either way. You can create it and add them or they can create it and add you.

Some folks have had success avoiding the video verification thing by NOT creating a new GBP until: 1) Get website established, 2) Give Analytics and Search Console accounts ownership using the email you want to use as GBP owner, 3) Create citations on major platforms, such as Yelp, FB, 4) wait a few weeks until website and citations are all crawled and indexed. 5) Use a different google account to "add a missing place" to Maps, 6) Get a few legit reviews on that GBP, 7) Finally, claim the profile.

No guarantees, of course, but I think Darren Shaw claims good success.

He did post about this, but the last few GBPs I created were immediately suspended. I am seeing countless threads about brand new GBPs getting suspended on various forums.
