Is a DBA good enough when creating a new business for a GBP? The main company already has a LLC for there GBP.

There are opening another line of business and will be dedicating an office of the floor for this new business. They will have a different phone number as well. I know that for tax purposes it is easier for the client to just get a DBA but wanted to know for GBP verification purposes should they just create a new llc instead?

From a GBP/SEO perspective, the easiest route the DBA route. It sounds like the 2nd business is going to be a totally different industry, which is important if the two businesses are in the same building to avoid Google filtering your GBPs. I'd suggest making sure that you register a DBA name that is keyword optimized, it can be super helpful in getting preferred placement on the Local Map Pack. Also, for those that don't know, many states have different names for a DBA (Doing Business As):

Assumed Business Name – Common in states like Illinois, Oregon.
Trade Name – Used in states like Colorado and Arizona.

Lastly, it is extremely inexpensive to create a new DBA whereas there are a lot more expenses related to creating, maintaining, annual filings, accounting, etc. for an LLC. However that would be a call by your/their accountant.

Thanks for the reply!

Concerning a DBA and Google GBP compliance, if you have to show your business incorporation docs does having DBA instead of an LLC pull up any red flags? Since GBP verification can be tricky even in the best circumstances I was a little worried that this could be an issue.
