Hello,
I'm looking for some advice on best steps to take in helping a new client get their GBP live. My client attempted to setup his new GBP on his own and set it up under his old address that is outside the area that he wants to optimize for. He is a service area business, so he hid his address, but I know that for local search Google will still go off that address. The address he used was his old home address in a different town, but he has since moved into the main city he wants to optimize for. So here are my questions/thoughts:
Thank you!
- Since his current GBP has never gone live and is currently suspended, what steps should we take to make sure it gets added under his new home address? Since this address is in the main city he wants to optimize for, we definitely want it to be setup using this address.
- Should we update his location to show address and then add his new address to get this live and unsuspended? And then once the listing is live, then hide the address and choose his service areas? Or...
- Should we start a new GBP setup with the new address and hide it from the start? Since the old one has never been live my thoughts were to just remove that one all together and start from scratch, but wanted to make sure there wouldn't be an issue in doing this. I'm currently setup as an owner of his current suspended listing as I'm helping get this out of suspension or a new one setup. Wasn't sure if that would cause issues.
- I'm working on his new website and I know in the past if the address is on the website that Google seems to use that as a verification for the GBP and I have seen verification go through immediately without having to do a video verification. So my thinking is to get the website's splash page up with the business logo, name, address and phone number before setting up the new GBP listing or adding the new address to the suspended listing to see if that might help get this live. I'm open to thoughts and suggestions on this as we want to get this live asap.
Thank you!
