Is there any way to determine what is the most searched for type of cuisine in Oceanside, California? I checked with Yelp and they claim they don't have this data which is absurd.

Have you tried Google Trends? You might not be able to break it down to that specific city, but you could probably get pretty close...You could also try KW planner. Other KW research tools aren't very good about breaking things down to that granular of a level.
