Do i need to update all directory / NAP listings, which all currently point to HTTP, can i just let the 301 do the work ?

You need to update GMB as well. This article that Andrew Shotland wrote a couple years ago still has some valid points to consider - When going HTTPS, dont forget about local citations! - Search Engine Land

If you have the time or budget to do the rest after that, I would just do them all. I also agree about the data aggregators as well that Colan mentioned.
