I edited my “address” on my business listing and Google suspended my listing saying:

your Business Profile on Google has been suspended because it was flagged for suspicious activity

So I submitted a reinstatement request and Google said:

Thank you for contacting Google My Business team about your business information being removed from Google Maps!

Based on the information provided, I'm happy to confirm that we were able to reinstate the listing for you. No further action is required on your part to verify it at this time.

I was expecting to be reinstated however when I checked my GMB listing it was still suspended. So I emailed Google and they said:

Your query has been escalated to our specialist team, which will perform a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the suspension. We appreciate your patience while your query is being looked into.

I waited 2 weeks for a response from Google’s specialist team and they never contacted me back. I have not heard from them for 7 weeks now. I did originally reply to the email thread twice and they have ignored my emails.

So, after waiting for the first 2 weeks of Google ignoring me I employed the services of a company that specializes in GMB reinstatement/management etc. I was told by my account manager that there is a bug that Google has to fix before my listing can be reinstated, and they cannot give me any more info other than this as Google does not let them disclose this info.

My question to the community is, can any of you tell me how long this will take? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I’ve been waiting 7 weeks and I’m completely in the dark. Will it be 3 months, 6 months, a year? Has anoyone had the same issue and had it resolved?

I am loosing business and this is not a good situation for me, so any peace of mind will help - it's not cool to be left completely in the dark. I have a business to run and staff relying on me to keep business flowing in.

If any of you can shed some light on this for me it would be much appreciated.

There is a bug that is causing reinstated listings to get suspended right after reinstatement. That is correct.

I'm not sure what the time lines are around fixing that bug. You could try posting at the Google business listing forum.

It is on the Forum, and nothing has been said.

Can you post the URL of the forum thread?

I do not want to undermine the person that is managing this for me by posting the link to the forum thread. My platinum product expert has said they will follow up with their team to get an update on the issue for me - however this was 3 weeks ago and I still haven’t heard anything back from them.

Thoughts?

It sounds like you're in good hands in that case. These things takes time and you can actually make things worse by having multiple people work on it.

I don’t want multiple people working on it, I’m OK waiting with the company I employed, as they are the professionals. I just wanted to know if anyone has had this problem in the past and how long it took to get reinstated.

Has anyone had this problem in the past?

If yes, how long it took to get reinstated?

It's normally very quick unless there is something Google is trying to verify. Also, certain categories can take longer than others.

So 2 months is long enough to wait in your opinion? It should be fixed by now and my listing reinstated by now?

Does anyone have any news on this Google My Business Bug getting fixed? It’s been 2 1/2 months so far and I’m still suspended. @Colan Nielsen @JoyHawkins @BenFisher ?

A local specialist recently wrote that you can either wait for Google to fix the bug or submit a new GMB listing and loose your reviews/rankings and have to wait 6 months to start ranking again. Should I wait for Google to fix it or should I delete my GMB listing and submit a new one?

I have someone that i'm helping with this on the forum that is still waiting as well so it's not fixed yet. You can delete your listing and submit a new one but just know that new profiles usually don't rank as well as old ones. This situation sucks so there is no good answer :(

BREAKING NEWS:

@Colan Nielsen @JoyHawkins @BenFisher

I just searched for my business and it is showing up in the 3 pack again “ranking high” same as it was before my suspension.

Weird thing is, my account is still suspended in my Google Business Profile Manager.

Let’s hope this is the start of the bug fix !!!!

A little late to this, but do you know if this bug is still causing issues and if the bug is affecting brand new GBPs? We have had two situations now where we setup a listing, it gets verified and immediately suspended.

The first time we had to hide the address AND show pictures of the office/signage and the listing was reinstated. This most recent one we have the address showing and it was verified and immediately suspended. This second one is a truly new location (the first one was moving from one place to another).

This is only applying to suspended listings getting reinstated and then auto suspending again, it is still around and there is a workaround for storefronts, if reported on the community.

As far as new listings getting suspended, this is normal in certain categories.

Thank you for responding — are you able to expand on which categories are more susceptible? It's happening multiple times with a pest control client I'm working with.
