Client has a new GBP in fact he has two one verified and the other not. Then last week Google requested it to be verified again and then the next day it was Suspended! He did have his company name - City, his local city, but so does 99% of his competition have the same - City in their GBP Company Names. Was this more of an issue with the Duplicate listing, or the stuffing the city or both? Anyway it's suspended. And I removed the "- City" from the suspended profile already. So all we need to do is proceed with the suspension process... Any recommendations?

IMO, getting reinstated boils down to the paperwork. Of course you need to make sure everything on the profile complies with the Guidelines, but that's usually a quick process. It's getting the right documentation that takes time and that matters most.

Google's "official list" of docs is now:
  • Official business registration
  • A business license
  • Tax certificates
You should have at least one of those, but if you can get two or three, even better.

Make sure the business name and address on the docs match what's on the profile!

While they're not on the "official list", I recommend photos of signage, utility bills, link to an accredited BBB profile, etc.

You’ll need to submit substantial supporting evidence that clearly shows the business name and address, as Google has become increasingly strict with appeals for suspended or disabled Business Profiles.

Yes, ofc.

Bigger problem now!

Client pulled the trigger on the appeal, and was denied. However, it did not ask him for documentation. We DID however, Edit the the Name of his business and the "- Oakville" was removed before he pulled the trigger... but still denied.

I have the link to appeal the denial. But he has a DUPLICATE GBP and it's not Verified. So asking if he should verify this second profile and change the address to a satellite office address, as it's currently the same address as the denied GBP.

I advised the client before the suspension that he shouldn't have two duplicate profiles. Last week his original GBP which was verified, was then switched to unverified and then a day or so later to suspended.

Here's the appeal link regarding denied GBP:

https://support.google.com/business/contact/local_appeals

Yes he has all the documentation.

Summary Question: Should he verify his second GBP first or should the client address the suspended GBP and then verify his second GBP?

Ty for your advice!

Hey Stefan, seems like the appeal process is broken. They have a second GBP which is currently not verified. Can the client just verify with this new GBP with a different address? They have different franchise locations with the same company name. They obviously don't want to get suspended again. What would you recommend? I agree regarding appealing the suspension. They did have biz name - city in the GBP name, but it was removed prior to appealing, so documentation is key. Just considering what is the fastest way to get them reinstated with a GBP? Thanks, Kevin.

Creating a duplicate GBP while the main one is suspended is a major violation of Google TOS and will make your appeals fail regardless of what you are doing and how compelling your case is. You NEED to delete any duplicate profile before appealing the old one. If you did not create it, claim it from the front end and delete it before attempting anything else.

Using city in the business name is also against Google TOS https://support.google.com/business...hains, departments & individual practitioners unless it is part of the business trading name and they can justify it.
It is not because others are doing something and because it works that you should replicate it. They might get slapped at some point once the system catches up.

Stefan made some solid recommendations regarding the paperwork to provide. Just make sure the NAP using on the GBP profile is consistent on all documents, and get your citations in order too (at least the main ones).

Now that you seem to have received 2 refusals from Google, the good thing is you should have a direct line with Google staff. Your client should have received a refusal email that states the "redress options" if located in EU and other redress options.

This email always comes from a non no-reply address so you have 1 or maybe max 2 last remaining attempts to email them and save your profile.

Make sure you:

- Delete the duplicate listing. Attempting anything else is a waste of both you and Google's time and they will play deaf.
- Address any violations left by carefully reviewing the profile against their TOS
- Prepare all the documents (as explained above by Stefan) and put them into a public G drive folder. Make sure the NAP is consistent.
- Follow up through that email and explain to them that you are requesting a reconsideration, explain what you have fixed and which violations you have addressed, link your G Drive stating that this is a legitimate business and kindly request a review.

If everything is done right it should work. If it fails, it means you still have violations left on the profile. You might be able to send another email back but at some point they will just ghost you.

Your only available option will then be the GBP help forum and pray that some product expert escalate your case.

Hope it helps.
