Google Says Having Duplicate Meta Descriptions Doesn't Mean Your Site Is Broken

Google has a report in Google Search Console that shows you your duplicate meta descriptions, the report is called the HTML improvements report. It will document "Meta description problems: Potential problems with duplicate or otherwise problematic meta descriptions." Are they real problems?

@JohnMu Hi John, Search Console still shows several pages as having Duplicate Meta Descriptions when they have been corrected and indexed several weeks back. Should one worry too much about this? Thanks!

These are just for your information, they're not a sign that anything is broken.


In terms of quality, Google has said these meta descriptions are not an issue either.

In short, meta descriptions are not that big of a deal for search, especially if you look at the recent Yoast study.
