Re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Thanks Linda, much appreciated.

I wonder why Google put a prominent 'get your page' button? I nearly went ahead and tried to (re)claim my listing.

Re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Hmmm, I've seen a few of those emails and they all say "start posting". So the email recognizes you have already claimed and is trying to get you more engaged with your page.

If yours says "Get Your Page" it sounds like maybe you have an unclaimed dupe, an unverified listing in a different account OR your listing became unverified or something.

Sounds like you might have a problem. If you think you do and want more help, please post down in the help and support section. Include link to your page and screenshot of your dashboard. Maybe even screenshot of the email.

Yes my email from Google said 'start posting' but when I log in, I get a screen with heading 'Your Pages' with my logo, title and a 'manage this page' button underneath.. which clicks through to the new dashboard.

However, to the right of all that, there is another button that says 'get your page'. Ever heard of that?

Just added official Google Demo and QA video to the 1st post but wanted to add here too.

Re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Just watching the video and in the Q&A section they talk about name changes. The biz owner simply edits in the dash. Do I understand correctly that Google decides whether to close the old business listing and create a new one?

If so, what happens to things like the followers/reviews/posts, etc?

Does anyone know if biz owners get notified of the new page (if they don't know, they could still have listings/site all be pointing back to the old closed page)?

Hi Margaret, yes that's been the process for over a year now.

It's all explained in the <a href="http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/moving-name-changes/">Moving or Name Changes</a> forum.

See that top pinned post there and maybe ask there, so as not to throw the GMB announcement off track. Because it's unrelated to the update.

I'll answer your Qs over there in that post when I can.
