I have a client that instead of just marking 10 days in Dec/Jan as closed has marked the GBP status as temporarily closed.

Does that status interfere with any functionality (leaving reviews, adding photos or anything else)?

Is that an acceptable practice or is it better just to add each day into the admin as closed and not use that option?

If they are closed they aren't serving customers so there can't be any reviews or photos to submit.

One would hope Google understands what temporarily closed means. Many small businesses have annual breaks so this is a logical way to show the status.

They are closed for 10 days, I get reminders all the time from Google to add photos and reviews to places I have visited weeks and even months before.

Hope and logic are not necessarily taken into consideration . . . I agree it seems logical, but I have worked with a couple hundred GBPs over the last 8+ years and I have never had anyone take this approach so I don't have any direct experience with it (in particular how it affects visibility & relevance once the temporary closure ends).

Is the listing closed now? I would check to see if you can leave a review. Last I checked you could still review temporarily closed listings but haven't checked in several years so it might have changed.

Are they from Google or the business owner? The only requests I ever get to leave a review are from the business owner. If from Google it is because you have some setting enabled?

No, marking your business as temporarily closed has zero impact on rankings or performance. People can still leave reviews.

I personally use holiday hours or temporarily update the hours for the period that they are closed. The only platform that has issues is Yelp. I set the hours as open from 11:30 PM to 11:45 PM.
