Encryption and HIPAA compliance
Google encrypts messages sent between users and agents. Messages received on a user’s device are encrypted by any user-configured encryption for the device.

Google has come a long ways in the last two years or so to make their Business services HIPAA compliant. At a minimum you need to:
Subscribe to a Business or Enterprise Workspace Plan
Sign a BAA with Google
Utilize PHI best practices within the Google Workspace for the products considered HIPAA compliant capable
