Hello everyone,

I’m a small business owner and licensed electrician, and I’m hoping to get some expert guidance on my suspended Google Business Profile. My business is NSCO Electric LTD (https://nscoelectric.com/), located in Maple Ridge, BC, Canada. I started the business about one year ago and have been slowly building my online presence and customer base.

What happened

My profile was suspended on January 5th shortly after I updated my business category. Originally, my category was “Electrical installation service.” Because I am also an engineer, I changed it to “Engineering consultant.” Right after this change, my profile was suspended.

Since the profile is suspended, I cannot change the category back or update anything else. All edits are locked.

Appeals submitted

I submitted two reinstatement requests, both denied.

For both appeals, I provided:

  • My electrician trade certificate
  • My business licenses
  • Company registration documents
  • Insurance
  • Utility bill
  • Proof of address
  • Proof of business operations
Despite all this, both appeals were refused.

Additional steps I took

Since the suspension, I’ve gathered additional supporting evidence to strengthen my next reinstatement request:
  • Purchased a business truck
  • Installed professional business signage on the truck
  • Installed signage on my garage door
  • Organized all documents in a Google Drive folder
I am fully legitimate and operate as a service-area electrician. I do not accept walk‑ins. Before suspension, I was receiving great reviews and doing everything correctly.

My concerns
  • I don’t know if I am allowed to submit a third reinstatement request
  • I don’t know what exactly caused the suspension
  • I cannot correct the category mistake because the profile is locked
  • I cannot reach a real person at Google support
  • I’m worried that I’m stuck with no way to fix the issue
What I need help with

I would really appreciate guidance on:

  • Whether I can safely submit another reinstatement request
  • Whether the category change is the main issue
  • If my evidence is sufficient or if I should add more
  • Whether my case needs escalation
  • What steps I should take next
This suspension has had a big impact on my small business, and I want to resolve it properly and in full compliance with Google’s guidelines.

Thank you very much for your time and help

Since your second appeal was denied, your next and only step is the GBP forum: https://support.google.com/business/thread/new

But first, you need to fix whatever caused the appeals to get denied. I noticed on your website there is no address. Is there a reason why? Are you a service area business with no storefront? If so, you need to make sure the address is not showing on the business profile.

Even if you are a service area business with a hidden address, Google likes to see evidence of where your business is located and where you serve. You have the "Areas We Cover" section on your homepage, but it has no province or postal codes listed, so it is hard to say where those areas are. Add the BC abbreviation and the postal codes to that section.

Also, add the city you are located in to your footer. You do not need to add a full address, but whatever city you used to verify the GBP should be represented on the site as your location.

Also, if you want to keep Engineering consultant as the primary category, you should mention it on your site as a service you offer. If you want to change it back to "Electrical installation service", simply do so in the dashboard and the edit will go live once the profile is unsuspended.

Your evidence seems sufficient, plus you are on the Canadian business lookup: https://ised-isde.canada.ca/cbr-rec/en/search/results?search={NSCO Electric LTD}

Make the website edits to clarify where you are, where you serve, and what you do. Make sure your address is hidden on the profile. You should also change the category back to "Electrical installation service" in the dashboard to rule that out as a reason for the appeal denial.

Then you can post on the GBP community forum and ask a PE to help. Tell them all the issues you fixed after the second appeal. Do NOT post any private business documents on the forum.
