Does ANYONE have an article or anything about NAP consistency regarding Suites. I am being asked if people should put tickets into support if the GBP doesnt match exactly the way the suite shows on the GBP vs what is in the dashboard.

For example

Dashboard shows: 123 Main St, Suite 123
GBP shows: 123 Main St, #123

I know suites do not matter to Google(used to verify and basically for users to know where to go) . I know Google is smart enough to know the difference between formatting but does anyone have anything in writing I can send?

Google completely ignores suite numbers. They do not factor suites into consistency in any way, no matter where you put them.

From this Whitespark article
https://whitespark.ca/google-business-profile-guide/business-information/
that relates to filtering issues only.

What we're seeing here is a normalization issue, i,e. how Google chooses to display the address. It's in the same ballpark as google choosing to abbreviation "Thomson Road" to "Thomson Rd" or even translating words like "Route" and "Rue" between French vs. English. In this case, google displays all forms of "second-level numbers" as just #, whether it's a door, suite, apartment, room etc.

(note that like google algorithms, normalization is not fully consistent: sometimes an address fails to register as containing this sort of information, and will not group with the other GBPs withing the directory at that address, thence not filter them)

Normalization is also why google can do wild things if it tries to reconcile an address it can't identify because the street is missing entirely from its data.

NAP consistency hasn't been important for over five years. Google doesn't even look at suites or buildings. Just ignore and move on.

What are you talking about? @sarmcl specifically asked about NAP consistency regarding Suites. It's not only relevant, but it's the truth. @JoyHawkins has repeatedly stated that Google doesn't use suites with GBP rankings.

@sarmcl - If I'm interpreting correctly, your concern is that what you've entered in the editing screen (NMX) does exactly match what appears publicly. Is that correct?

If so:

Edits in the backend get "synced" to the public profile. Sometimes there's a delay while your edit gets approved. Sometimes the process breaks and the NMX and public display are out of sync. I've seen a handful of these cases.

If you suspect that it's causing a ranking problem, you should fix it. Contact support. I believe that they use their own internal tools for troubleshooting this stuff and won't look at the public display by default, so they won't see the problem. In my experience, it's a hard problem to get them to understand but once they do, they'll fix it. Prepare yourself for a few frustrating email exchanges!

And if you don't think it's having an impact on your ranking (or driving directions or anything else important) then I wouldn't worry about it as long as your other edits get published. (E.g. review responses, new services, etc.)

Suites have zero impact on rankings. @JoyHawkins has repeatedly stated this. You don't even need to show the suite, it's for the users and not Google.
