Product Carousel Category Buttons Question

I was wondering if anyone had any insight regarding the number of category buttons Google allows under the product carousel. I have been able to create many categories inside the products section of the GMB, but noticed on the actual GMB in the SERPS only 4 category buttons appear. I have never read anywhere there is a 4 button limit. Don't want towaste anymore effort creating multiple category buttons if Google is only going to show 4 .
