I'm having an issue where my client has lost access to their GMB, and they are a service area business. When you click on "own this business", it basically sets you up to set up a new business. Is there any way to wrangle control of an SAB that the client has lost ownership of?
 
Since they had ownership and lost it, which would be easy for Google to see on the backend, I would start by contacting GMB support, preferably with that email, and ask them for assistance.
